I recently had the pleasure of dining at a Black Bear diner, and I have to say that the food was absolutely amazing. The Cobb salad was one of the best I've ever had, and the waffles were delicious as well. The coffee was also a highlight - it was rich and flavorful. One thing to keep in mind is that this restaurant can get quite busy, so it's best to plan ahead . Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for great food and a wonderful dining experience.

Went here for lunch on a work day with hubby. The food was average. The Chicken Fried Steak was definitely not hand breaded in the restaurant. Could have used more gravy. The mashed potatoes were good, but lukewarm at best. The green beans hot and delicious. The corn bread muffins were very warm and tasty. A bit sweet for my liking. My husband had same larger Chicken Fried Steak with salad and fries. The salad was very fresh and fries hot and crispy. We would like to go back and try the breakfast, as we hear that is what they are known for. The menus were so cute like a newspaper and very interesting reading the history of the chain. Super cute items for sale like shirts and etc. The desserts looked like they would be really good.

Went here for breakfast during the week and this place was BUSY! Table for 2 only took 10 minutes, service was phenomenal. The ambiance is nice and cozy, food is delicious, serving sizes are pretty massive in all the orders we got. my omelette lasted me breakfast and lunch hours later and trust me when I say I can usually eat a lot! Biscuits and gravy were so delicious even just the biscuits alone were so soft. Will definitely return, it’s a great alternative for an American breakfast here in south SA

Overall review: Quality not worth the high price. It was our first time here. We were lucky and seated immediately. My love got the pot roast plate and I got the fish and chips; both with sweet tea. The pot roast plate was super salty. The meat was tender and the mashed potatoes were like velvet but like I said way too salty. Fish and chips were horrible. The fries were way too salty. The coleslaw tasted like it had banana flavoring in it, so that threw me off. The fish was like jerky and flavorless. Not one seasoning in the batter or fish itself. My dish was completely inedible. Asked for sweet tea but got tea instead. My love got sweet tea, though. Our waiter was extremely nice and professional. That's why I'm giving this place two stars because he was great.

Got to try out Black Bear Diner today since it’s been the talk of our side of town. Got sat and didn’t get tended to for almost 10 min. I had to ask the manager it was out first time in and if it was a self serve establishment. After the confusion and assigned server we got the show on the road. My girl got the chicken avocado club, my son got the cheese pizza and I got the meat loaf. The food was decent. Not best I’ve had but decent. Not going to drop a 4 or 3 star review as all the other food looked great. Will definitely have to try again. Hopefully they sort out all the kinks and the service bumps up. *Update* Visited again, this time for breakfast. Breakfast is definitely their strong arm. It was excellent. Had their Grizz plate and my girl had the waffle option plate. Both were very good. The orange juice is freshly squeezed on site.

Great variety restaurant. Breakfast, lunch and dinner anytime. No wait at all. Friendly staff. They have huge portions. The cornbread muffin is to die for. A hint of sweetness and the butter just melted all over it. The pot roast meal was super tender. Melted in your mouth. The desserts are a must. The chocolate cream pie super rich and chocolaty. Huge enough for two to share. Definitely will be back again.

Nothing but good things to say about this west coast franchise. We waited about 10 minutes for a table, but they were quite busy. Cierra was our server and she was extremely helpful, friendly and engaging. We had breakfast and were not disappointed. Had "The Grizz" and the portions were huge. 3 eggs, 2 giant breakfast sausage links, two stips of thick cut bacon and a thick cut portion of ham with wide strip hashbrowns and 2 sweet cream pancakes. The food was all obviously scratch made. Can't speak for lunch or dinner, but none of the breakfast items were pre-packaged or frozen. Everything was fresh and delicious. The stand out was the sweet cream pancakes. Literally, the best pancakes I have ever had. Will certainly be back and I wish this restaurant nothing but success!
