Chicago's Home of Chicken and Waffles is a family favorite in Oak Park. Menu offers their special crunchy breaded chicken along with delicious waffles and sides that can't be beat. Kids love the portions and I enjoy the service, endless cup of Joe and the wings. Plates are shareable depending on hunger. Chicago's Home of Chicken and Waffles is family, wallet friendly and they allow BYOB. Give em a try, you won't be disappointed.

I am a California native and was craving some chicken and waffles from Roscos or Lolos. Most places in the Chicago area are serving Belgian style waffles and chicken ?. And i came across this location serving the traditional flat waffle. I got excited at the possibility of having a good replacement for Roscoes. Unfortunately they did miss the mark. I want to say the vibe was immaculate and the decor was very warm and classy. The service was a little slow. We were there for about 7 minutes before we met our waitress. The food came out fast. Almost too fast as if they might not have been freshly fried? It wasn’t pipping hot but it wasn’t cold or anything like that. It was totally fine but I am a bit skeptical that it was cooked that quickly. So we got the half chicken for $32 which I felt was quite expensive but ok. Also got the red beans and rice and waffles and scrambled eggs. Now the flavor of the chicken was good but one dimensional. The Cajun red beans and rice was missing some key Cajun spice! I’m not convinced it contained the holy trinity or smoked ham hocks or turkey. The waffles were good, they had an interesting “chewiness” that reminded me of like a gluttonous rice flour. I’m not sure if that was international or if they were over beaten but I enjoyed them! All and all I wanted a good replacement for my chicken and waffles on the west coast, although they missed the mark for me, there’s a good chance you will enjoy this place!

This review has nothing to do with the taste of the food. The taste of the food was fine except for the rice...I think it was Minute rice. My kids and I enjoyed the food for the most part. The waitress (Jessica) was ok and the manager that walked around was ok too. This review is all about bad business practices. EVERYTHING ON MY BILL WAS HIGHER THAN IT WAS ON THE MENU...EVEN THE POP.....EVERYTHING!! After we ate and asked for the bill, the waitress came up to the table with this little handheld machine and gave me my total. I had to ask her for a receipt. ?? The receipt prices DID NOT match the menu prices. They were a few dollars more. ??So now I understand why I had to ask for a receipt vs them just providing one. I asked her why the prices were more and she said someone else mentioned it weeks ago and they are in the process of getting new menus printed or they had new menus printed and they hadn't been put out yet...ummm ??. I didn't mind paying for my food but I do not like the dishonesty that happened. This isn't good business practices and they are definitely getting over on people. If the prices are higher this needs to be stated prior to dining. And if not, the lower prices should be honored.

This is my go to if I'm missing southern comfort/soul food. Their fried chicken is perfectly cooked every time I visit and it's just lightly coated with flour. It's crunchy but closer to "naked" fried chicken which I can get behind. The hardest part is deciding which sides to get. Good luck picking just 3! Mac and cheese, yams, collard greens, are all excellent choices. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the waffle itself. It doesn't stand up to the quality of the other food. Service is good. They take care of you and you're generally served quickly unless it's a busy weekend dinner service. I've had to wave down a server a couple of times but I honestly don't mind it. I feel welcome and at home when I eat here.

I'm not a big fan. It really doesn't give me that taste that makes me say I can't wait to come back again. Great atmosphere and very nice service, but the food was just alright. Something I could have prepared at home and had better. The sides tasted good but very small portions, the chicken was dry, and my wing had more meat than my breast. The catfish is paper thin. The best thing I had was the cornbread, and it is ugly like a Xmas sweater. My personal opinion is that it's more like a $10 meal compared to paying over $20. Praying for better

-At a rate of 2$ per wingette I'd expect a better product. Not these "dinky" lil things (pic) -Was offered a 4$ discount then at billing was told "hey I gotcha next time" lol -The Buffalo sauce is mediocre and very yellow. I give the sauce 3/5. Do better.....

On my first visit I found the food to be prepared to perfection. The atmosphere, the server and the music are all welcoming. However on my second visit I ordered the same item and it was all right. The mean greens were full of stems, the salmon was just a little under cooked. The wait staff was not so welcoming. All and all I will go again hopefully everything will be done to perfection.
