Great spot. The stage is honestly smaller than you would think. However, it is a great, intimate space for any of your favorite DJ, nightclub vibes. Even for a live band, it's a cool spot to play. If you go see a show there, it's bound to be a tight, intimate, yet memorable experience. There's also a balcony which is really cool for a venue of this size. Extensive bar upstairs as well. Definitely has a lot of attributes to a local dive bar. Not completely a gentrified pedestrian Utopia.

This small but tall venue provides a few levels where you can sit or stand to watch bands perform. The crowded space does make the sound reverberate and become overwhelmingly loud. The drinks are good but served in plastic cups which gives it a cheap feel. The bands that perform are quite good.

Saw Born Ruffians perform here and it was an amazing time! There is a bar on both floors and the small venue makes for a very intimate experience. The whole building was pretty unique. I highly recommend if you want to get close to your favorite artist without being smothered.

Fantastic small venue with great views wherever you stand. Really good sound and lighting too. It was really hot so dress accordingly and drink lots of free water from the bar. Get there early if you want to be front row.

Special venue. Lot of character, and a really interesting layout. Loved the upstairs viewpoints, and the bartenders were friendly. Beer is cheap. Good sound, I don’t think there’s much more to ask for in a venue like this.

The most unique live music venue I have been to! Excellent staff (very friendly / professional). 1st floor is bar / booths and tables w/ pool table. 2nd floor is a smaller stage / another bar. Best part: highly recommend balcony corner view. Great photos looking down on band. Outside dining section to enjoy warm summer nights. More intimate atmosphere for experiencing bands / loved it! Another aspect I loved: $2.00 Diet Coke. Another way Johnny Brenda's is focused on guest safety / designated drivers. Speaking of safety: Id checks and security was easily visible. This is huge with me. Wide variety of beverages with great bartenders. Honestly loved a few looks. After 6 years of visiting / covering Philadelphia, Johnny Brenda's was my intro to Philadelphia night life. I was told they were a great intro. Completely agree. Weekend of August 27th was my official end of summer. Thanks to everyone at Johnny Brenda's for helping to make a great one!

Kitchen is open until late with very delicious food, including creative vegetarian and vegan options. Omnivore friend said it was one of the best burgers he's had. Friendly bartender, super chill vibe. Great local beer selection.

What a great place to see a show! If you're claustrophobic or still focused on social distancing, I wouldn't recommend this venue (it's not very big and it was packed the night I was there), but if you're into dive bars with an incredible intimate experience, this is your place! The building must have been a playhouse at one time as the stage is small but still works for bands and the sound system is intense. There are three floors, with a bar on each. The lower floor is a regular bar, the middle floor contains the stage and the third floor is the balcony.
