Visited Staropolska for some quality Polish cuisine and was very disappointed. Decor is very nice, but that’s about the only compliment I could give this restaurant. Service is terrible. Not sure if they are understaffed or what the deal was but it was nearly impossible to get any service. And the waiter that I was eventually able to flag down had no idea what she’s doing. Food was a big disappointed. Bread was stale. Carbonated drinks were flat. Actual entrees were big in size but poor in quality, reheated and not made fresh. Soup was descent.

Was watching travel shows with my girlfriend trying to plan our next adventure and was watching a show on Polish cuisine. It made us hungry, so I did a quick Google search and found this restaurant. The food was incredible. Great portion sizes.Good list of Polish beer. It was packed on a Saturday night with a lively vibe. We got lucky and there happened to be a celebration in the back where the entire table started singing in Polish.

We came here to try polish food for the first time. We were not disappointed. Very good food and great service!

Update: We came back for the rest of the menu, and I must say, nothing disappointed. The veal meat ball is to die for. My first bite was like a party in my mouth. This is a must try. The pierogi is also quite good. I wish they offer the pan fried version that would be awesome! ————————————————————————— We haven’t had Polish food for quite sometime, watching DDD the other day reminded us the goodness of potato pancakes, pierogi and stuffed cabbage. So we stopped by on a Sunday night to get our fix. We have had Polish food both in the states and in Europe, to us, this place represents the true meaning of Polish comfort food. It is far from gourmet because it is not meant to be, simple ingredients and simple taste with great value. And yes some of the dishes can be made easily with a microwave, but that is not the point of eating out no? The food came quickly given it wasn’t busy, the sausages with onions were great and the potato pancakes were simply exceptional, I would have to say it is probably the best that I have ever tasted. The beef stew was ok, tender beef, especially love the dumplings. The stuffed cabbage was great, the rice and meat was cooked just right, and the sauce compliments. The schnitzel was the most tender I have tried and it was fried to perfection. However I was hoping there is a bit more flavor in the meat. Over all, great place, good service, great value will surely come back for the pierogi and the duck!

I first visited this restaurant about 10 years ago. It was incredible: warm atmosphere and delicious food. I finally got back to the city and once I looked up and saw that it was still open, I had to go back to Staropolska. The menu item I remember enjoying was no longer offered and the environment was cold and quiet. Service wasn't bad, but not great either. I know the pandemic took its toll on service industries, including eating establishments. But with the other Polish options in Chicago, next time I visit I'll try somewhere else.

The Food especially the Valentines Meal with the Duck was really delicious! But the attitude from the service wasn’t great at all. Not even a Goodbye at the end. Wouldn’t go there again. Because I think the atmosphere matters too.

The atmosphere was wonderful and the way they have their decorations set up is beautiful as well. I’m polish myself and honestly the food was pretty good, We had the special for two which was $34 and it was a big plate of food. Including kielbasa, pierogi, gulasz, potato and pancakes! It was almost too much for two! We also had the shrimp appetizer and zucchini pancakes which were amazing! 10/10 recommend

Great ambiance, staff was super friendly. We split the “dinner for two” platter which I would highly recommend! The potato pancakes, sausage mix and golabki werre great. The pierogis were okay but not the star. We also got the kolazcki for dessert—they were good but I think the apple cake would have been better
