My husband and I love to eat and trying new places. While we have been to Townsend before, this was the first time trying the tasting menu. For $100, you get a lot and get a lovely adventure of the taste buds. Now, it has been 5 months since we had a date night (newborns will do that), but we thoroughly enjoyed our time. Our server was also very attentive and kind. The beef tartar and the skate were my favorite.

Absolutely stunning. I brought my two elderly friends to the restaurant and the people were professional and attentive to them. My two elderly friends didn't know how to speak much English and so the waiters gave us extra time to read the menu and let me translate the menu for them. I didn't expect that level of service in Philadelphia. The welcoming atmosphere, not silent, is warm and welcoming. The pace of the meal was spot on. The food was amazingly deep and good. It has depth. Overall, I highly recommend it to anyone going to Philly.

Celebrated my birthday here with my husband over Labor Day weekend. Service was excellent and the food blew us away. Highly recommend the fluke and mouse patè. Space is cozy and intimate with a fantastic music playlist that the chef curates.

My friend and I stopped by for a quick drink and some grub before heading home. The bartender was very attentive and courteous. The food and presentation was great. I look forward to coming back for dinner.

We had a wonderful brunch experience. My partner and I came here with another couple and their 10 month old child. The restaurant staff was very friendly and accommodating in getting us settled. The brunch cocktails were phenomenal, especially the breakfast old fashioned! The food was also very good. Everything came out promptly and was delicious. My personal favorites were the steamed cockles, vanilla french toast, and the pavlova. My partner and I had been here previously for dinner and loved it and were very pleased with brunch as well. We'll definitely be back!

I’ve been mulling over the recent tasting menu visit about 2 weeks ago. First off automatic one star off for those chairs. I still think about how horrid and uncomfortable those chairs were both my partner and I both expressed pain after sitting for this meal. As for the meal itself, first course had too much maple couldn’t really taste the savoriness of the pumpkin the pepitas were a nice addition I always seemed to get one every other spoon full. The sea bass was tasty although the portion was a bit smaller than I was expecting. Like a two oz piece. I think at least 4 ounces would’ve sufficed. Otherwise it was well balanced. The wild mushrooms risotto was the most bland dish of the night and sorely lacked a mushroom presence. Two small pieces of mushroom. One would think there would be more pieces and variety in a wild mushroom risotto. Very lackluster. Seared duck breast was quite delicious and was my favorite part of the meal but also lacked a good portion being about the same as the fish course only 2 ounces needing to be 4 ounces in my opinion. Otherwise it was a welcome addition to the menu. The chocolate soufflé was okay although I wished I knew the server was going to bust open my soufflé and drown it with the glacé. I would’ve asked for it on the side so I may use it at my own pleasure. Had a duck a l’orange which was tasty. And my partner had some wine which we both liked. Ambiance was okay. But always being put near the speakers of a music system didn’t help with conversation on the table. Glad it wasn’t too cold either outside otherwise would have had to deal with the heat of the fireplace. Overall the meal was okay. Still left us hungry even after two bread baskets. Had to go to an Indian place down the block for some food.

Absolutely delicious. Whether you're coming in to sit at the bar or in the dining room, you will not be disappointed. You have the option to choose either a la carte or the tasting menu and evey item on the menu is exquisite. East Passyunk Ave has a lot to offer and offers some of the best restaurants in town. Townsend is a perfect example.

Absolutely excellent. Fantastic cocktails and an elevated food experience. We had the fluke, escargot, monkfish and chocolate souffle. Each dish was memorable and extremely well executed. The service was top notch from start to finish. Ambience was cozy, intimate and beautiful. This was a next level experience all around. Highly recommend.
