The quality of their sashimi is one of the freshest that I know. Presentation is also nice. There’s no doubt about their food. We were so pleased with this place the first time when we were there a few years ago, we made sure to come back here this time in San Diego. While the food quality remains excellent, the atmosphere was not the same. Although most of the sushi chefs were still Japanese, all waiters were different now. The decor and wait staff have lost the Japanese touch. Don’t get me wrong. The waiters were still doing a fine job, but just had different styles I suppose. Plus their prices seemed to have gone up as well. Price tag is too high even for excellent food quality like theirs.

Not a cheap sushi place for sure! Small place …. Love the bar seating directly where the prepare the food. I had very high expectations from this place (recommended by a friend) and it actually met the expectations as food quality, preparation, and taste. Why not 5 stars …. I have been in an even better one that it is still for me the #1. Bottom line … if you like shush and you can appreciate the taste of it and different qualities, tastes and experience…. This is a place to go.

Great sushi! When I go to the states I like to get sushi rolls, these were very good. Had the black cod too which was fantastic. Fast and Great service too!

We went with no expectations, it's downtown San Diego, you know, but it was a pleasant surprise. Excellent quality of the fish and the crew is amazing. 100% recommended

Wow. I could not believe how fresh the sushi was! I loved their Hamachi, Kanpachi, Tai, Hirame, Amaebi, Uni and topped it off with their Awabi (abalone). It was the best. The sushi chefs are awesome and made the experience incredible!

We came to this restaurant on a Wednesday during the week between Christmas and New Years. It was very busy but we were seated quickly outside. The area outside is heated and very pleasant. We ordered the miso soup, soft shell crab, spicy tuna tar tar, shrimp tempura, spicy tuna roll, spicy scallop roll, salmon & tuna sashimi. We had wine (Chardonnay) and green tea both of which were good. Our food came out very quickly and our server (Martin) was fun, polite and attentive. He made some good recommendations and helped us navigate the menu. The food was great and well priced. We were craving sushi and this definitely hit the spot. The regular tuna sashimi was a fairly fatty cut which is always a bonus. The tuna tar tar was very fancy and is topped with a quails egg & gold flakes. I would highly recommend both if you like tuna. I would definitely go back to this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone craving good sushi.

Decent quality for someone like myself prefers non-traditional Japanese Americanized sushi. This is ideal for those looking for traditional sushi, simple less is more plain style. The costs are 2x higher but it's a tourist zone so it's not unexpected. But the local economy makes sure no cheap fast food restaurants exist in the downtown area to maintain prices equally above a certain level.

Food is really good and tasty. Waiter Mario was really helpful and know what he was talking about. Fish is a good quality. Amazing. BUT when you get in you smell tobacco. Bothering and disgusting. Nobody was smoking so I guess the owner may smoke on closing hours.
